The RV Forum rally at Moab continues for a week and in addition to the off-roading expeditions includes other activities including rafting and sightseeing boat trips on the Colorado as well as a free-for-all variety show Wednesday night where we celebrated Terry Brewer's birthday with a little roast!
The evening boat trip up the Colorado starts before dusk with an hour trip that explores the sandstone formations that the river is carved from and a history of the area from early human residents through the history of the Native Americans for whom Utah was named (Ute), the first Spanish explorers, and the settlements of the Mormons, miners and ranchers who founded Moab. As it turns completely dark a moving truck along the river bank illuminates the sandstone formations as the boat drifts downstream and music accompanies the telling of the region's history.
Wednesday night was pizza night followed by a show put on by the volunteer extroverts of the group! The variety was complete as we had mimics to dulcimers and a roast for Terry's 60th Birthday.
Thursday was time to pack up and head back northwest to Salt Lake to meet Sue who flew in from Honolulu after her stint as grandma, babysitter, and home decorator as she helped Jami spruce up their dining room.
The weather was not cooperating very well as a snowstorm was in progress over Soldier Summit on US Route 6 and the temperatures in Salt Lake City are in the low 40'S, brrr! We will be here for a few days and then will be on our way up to Washington.
