Day 42 - End of the Road

We were up early this morning. Everyone seemed excited about getting back into the US and anxious to get started. Our route took us down the waterfront of Ensenada and then into the hilly wine country to the northeast. We pulled over for a break after 30 miles and final hugs and goodbyes. As we approached Tecate the caravan pulled closer together to cross the border through the truck gates. This caused a great deal of consternation from the cars we passed who had been waiting in line for an hour or so but after the local police were called things got straightened out and we had a relatively quick inspection by US Customs. As we left Tecate everyone said our final goodbyes over the CB as we headed in different directions. They are really not final farewells though as plans are already underway for several of us to meet in Florida this fall. We will also see one couple in Alaska this summer and may travel together for awhile.

We have come to realize our new friends will be an on going part of our travels and we look forward to seeing them soon. The caravan was a great adventure and we had the experience of a lifetime!

To all our friends we left this morning: ADIOS AMIGOS!See ya down the road.
