This has been a quiet day preparing for a farewell party tonight and our border crossing into the US tomorrow. Several of the women including Sue left on a shopping trip for last minute souvenirs today while Jeff and several others decided to wash off the grime of three weeks travel from our vehicles.
We met late this afternoon for cocktails on the patio of the resort restaurant and enjoyed the sunset before moving inside for dinner. After eating dinner Pat and Alice and our Tail Gunners Hex and Sandy discussed the trip and thanked everyone for their contributions.
We then sang the song Ted wrote for our group one last time and headed back to the RVs for a quiet gathering and after dinner drinks provided by everyone getting their liquor supply down for the border crossing.
As always with this group someone starts the laughter rolling and tonight it was Shirley Bunting as she became the impromptu bartender! As I am sure her family can attest she is an unlikely prospect for the job but did it well and kept everyone laughing while pouring.
It was also melancholy as we get ready to say adios to a lot of new friends that we have enjoyed a great deal the past six weeks. We are already discussing a get together late this year if it works out. Final goodbyes will be in the morning.
We head out at 7:00 in the morning for the border.
