The past three months have been without a doubt the most restful period since retirement in 2005. We put more miles on the Tradewinds in 2007 than any year before and were ready for a break.
The season started off with a visit from both girls and their families and ended with a week in Hawaii at the end of March. In between we have immersed ourselves in the winter season here at Happy Trails. Sue has spent most early mornings at the Town Center Pool with the water aerobics group and Jeff has remained interested in the Genealogy Club and playing golf. We have a fairly large group of RV Forum members here in the area and the parties and get togethers have been continuous since December! Many more friends have stopped by on their travels through the SW which always is a reason for another party. As we have spent more time here new friends and neighbors have been added to the list.
Our plans are to return next winter and that was all the excuse Jeff needed to by an old used golf cart instead of continuing to rent one. It does serve as a second vehicle to get around Happy Trails if one of us takes off with the CRV. The CRV is also a new addition as we traded our 2002 model for a new 2008 in February.
The temperatures have slowly climbed into the mid eighties this month but the weather has been beautiful since we returned from Hawaii. The past couple of weeks have been spent getting ready to pull out for the summer including tires for the motorhome. All the maintenance is done, everything except our chairs and a few miscellaneous personal items are loaded. Hopefully we will get out of town before the temperatures reach 100! (High so far this week was 96)
Sue also spent a week in Mesa helping her sister Pat recover from a knee replacement 10 days ago and Pat seems to be on the mend.
Jeff qualified for Medicare on the first of April so we are delaying our departure while he goes through a full medical exam for the first time since retirement. As soon as that is completed and the tests results are in we hit the road.
Our plans are to slowly head east seeing friends and sightseeing while heading to Tennessee for a Forum Rally on May 8th. From there we head to Illinois for a visit with our second set of grandkids and then out east for the summer.
