We have spent the past week with RV Forum friends parked 3 miles south of Quartzsite in a BLM LTVA, (Long Term Visitor's Area). This is not a campground; we just pull off the road and park in the desert grouped together.
Each year QZ hosts a large gathering of RVers who spend a few days to several months parked in the desert. The third week of January is the RV show which increases the crowd to an estimated 100,00 visitors. Each day is free for shopping, off-road exploring or just visiting. We get together at 4:30PM for social hour and then stay home or head out to QZ for dinner. While we have been here we have met Washington RVing friend Glen Dewick and friends from New York Ken and Marcia Holmes, whom we intend to visit next summer on our way East.Today we held our annual pot luck and spent the evening around another fire before heading for our RV. We will spend the morning here tomorrow and then drive back to Surprise tomorrow afternoon.
