Here is our 6 year old National Tradewinds that we have had for three years and driven 65,ooo miles.
Three weeks later we have a new look! The Elkhart Indiana area is truly the RV capital of the world and it has more very good paint shops for RV's than anywhere else as well.
Jeff has spent most of the time here looking over the shoulder of the painters at Mike's Custom Painting in Bremen, IN while Sue has been traveling. She spent 10 days in Hawaii helping daughter Jami babysit while SIL Dan was in Europe on business. Sue is now in Illinois with daughter Laurie and has traveled to central Illinois to see old friends. She did come over to pick out our new hardwood floor that is being installed this week at Bradd & Hall in Elkhart.

The paint process is a long one and the following pictures show what has been done to turn our 6 year old coach into a like-new one on the outside.

Here is the first draft of the paint mask designed for our coach.First step was to remove all original stripes and decals. Looks bare doesn't it?
The sides are then primed and sanded to remove the shadows from the old stripes.
Here is the first color coat applied.
The paint mask is then applied in the paint booth.
The next color was the red stripe. Here the red is covered to get ready for the gold.
And the gold is applied.
After the colors are touched up three coats of clear coat are applied.
Early the next morning the motorhome is moved back to the detail shop.
Here the slides are painted and striped.
After all painting is done the clear coat is sanded and polished for a deep finish.
The finished product!
