We have been relaxing near Punta Gorda Florida at the Live Oaks Golf and RV Park for the month. This has been a great rest stop as well as a chance to catch up on doctor visits and cleaning and fixing up the motorhome. We are really hoping to spend more time in one place and give ourselves a chance to rest up.
Our motorhome is parked about 150 feet from the pro shop of the nine hole par 3 course here at the campground so Jeff has little excuse when it comes to getting a little exercise.
If you can make them out here are a couple of gators who sun themselves along the lake on the 5th hole every day. The larger one is a nice fat 10 footer. No one tries retrieving any balls from this pond!
Jeff and Don spent a day visiting Everglades City, the west entrance to Everglades National Park. The area is a beautiful coast and swamp area that is full of wildlife including hundreds of species of beautiful birds. Our brief visit was just a small sample of what awaits us next year when we hope to really tour the Everglades and Florida Keys.
A trip to the Everglades isn't complete without a ride through the swamp on an air boat and we got a chance for a trip while near Everglade City.
The Everglades are magnificent but I would not like to be out there without a boat!
The quality of the photos here are pretty bad because they were taken with a cellphone. Only Jeff goes to the Everglades and forgets the camera! We fixed that by buying two new cameras this month. Sue has a new point and shoot that is 3x4x.9 inches and Jeff is waiting for a new 10 megapixel Panasonic with 12 x zoom capabilities. between the two we should always have a camera on board!
We have had a great visit with Jeff's folks. Thanksgiving dinner was at the Captain's Table in Punta Gorda and Jeff's cousin Colleen Collins drove down from Bradenton to join us for the afternoon. The turkey and dressing were great and the piles of jumbo shrimp, sea bass in lobster sauce and all the other great food made it a meal to remember!
We will be leaving next Thursday. Sue is flying to Chicago to see daughter Laurie and our Illinois granddaughters for five days while Jeff drives to Phoenix. From there we will be flying to Honolulu on the 13th of December for Christmas with #2 granddaughter Emily and her folks.
