Maine or Bust - Back in Washington

We departed Sam's Camp in Lewistown early Saturday morning for a scenic drive across Montana along the south boundary of Glacier National Park on Rte 200 to Missoula where we got to see firefighters battling a fire that stretched for 15 miles along I-90 including a great number of fire fighters and two helicopters dipping water out of the river. The fire had burned right down to the interstate and destroyed buildings and all low brush and deadwood. It was still smoldering and kept the right lane of I-90 closed .

We spent the night in Moses Lake Washington and drove on into Arlington this morning. After a month of extremely warn temperatures and humidity the 70's weather here is delightful!

Our trip encompassed 32 days, 7675 miles, and 155 hours of driving. We enjoyed a great time with both of our families, were absolutely delighted with our kids and two granddaughters, saw old friends and met new ones. This was the longest we have been out in a motorhome and have learned a lot. The Tradewinds performed admirably with one minor solenoid problem that we had repaired in Illinois on the way out. On reflection the most important lesson we learned is to allow a lot more time for this kind of trip. Almost every day we saw something or somewhere we wanted to explore that we did not have time to do.

We now have a week to finish packing in preparation for the movers on the 16th. We then will really be full-timing! We have several FMCA rallies and labor day weekend to get ready for. We are meeting Sue's brother and sister-in-law at Leavenworth, WA for the holiday. It will be a busy Fall!
