Nashville and North

After Memphis where else can you hear great music? Nashville of course! We stayed in Lebanon TN with friends from the RV Forum and started our touring with RVing friend Lorna Reiter for a day at the Country Music Hall of Fame and a tour of the Grand Ole Opry's original home, Ryman Auditorium. In the 1980's we visited the original Hall of Fame so were really impressed with the size of the new three-floor building and its detailed displays. We spent a good part of the day there including lunch but did manage a trip up to the street to the Ryman for a trip back in Nashville music history. Our group of 24 enjoyed a leisurely week of visiting as we always do. It included a breakfast cooked by the men on Saturday morning and a couple of trips to nearby restaurants including a Mother's Day Brunch in Lebanon. Our Rally was highlighted by attending the Saturday night Grand Ole Oprey show that included the induction of Carrie Underwood into the Oprey including appearances by Vince Gil, Mel Tillus, and Garth Brooks as well as old favorites including the Kentucky Bluegrass band and Little Jimmy Dickens. It was a great evening spent with great friends.

Next stop on our route to Illinois was in Evansville IN to have SMI Inc install a towing brake in our new CRV. We also had coffee with old aviation friend Tom Speer on our way out of town. We made it to Urbana IL that evening and spent the night at Frasca Field with old, old aviation friends the Frascas who were having a cookout at their aviation museum at the airport. Jeff's first job was flying out of Frasca Field when it was known as Illini Airport in the 1960's.

We spent the night parked at the airport and left the next morning for the trip up to the Plainfield area to see daughter Laurie, SIL Roger, and two of Grandma's darling, Payton and Ella. We stay at a campground down near the intersection of I-80 and I-55 and will be here for three weeks.
