Eastbound : Flathead Lake Montana

We left Washington as the temperatures cooled off east of the Cascades. We left the Sound on beautiful US 2 over Stevens pass to one of favorite WA destinations, the Bavarian style Village of Leavenworth and the Icicle River RV Park. Our site overlooked the river and was delightful!

We headed for Flathead Lake Montana to visit RV Forum friends Sharon and Smoky Sheppard who are also full timers who spend part of their summers with Sharon's sister Jackie and her husband Randy who have a beautiful home overlooking the lake.

Smoky was suffering from a pulled back muscle so Sharon Sue and Jeff headed for Glacier NP for a day of sightseeing. Sharon's father had brought her here as a child and it was fun listening to her stories of family days in the Park.

Glacier is always rated as one of the most beautiful parks in the US and everywhere you look are breath taking views. Here is a shot looking north on Lake McDonald along the Going To The Sun Highway.

Forest fires around St Mary on the east side of Glacier had roads closed and kept us from seeing all of the Park so we traveled up the Going To The Sun Highway to the top of Logan Pass and the visitor's center. The drive is magnificent and the views make it well worthwhile. We will have to return when we have more time to see everything.
