Maine or Bust -Bar Harbor

Three great days playing tourist at Mt Desert Island Maine and the Bar Harbor RV Park with daughters Jami and Laurie, their husbands and our two beautiful granddaughters Payton and Emily.

We drove up from Scarborough Sunday afternoon with the girls. Good trip with a long nap and stop for ice cream at Ellsworth. Our campground looks out over the bay and is loaded with wild blueberries that Jami, Dan and Sue pick every day. Some will be on their way to Hawaii Thursday.

This was the summer retreat of the Rockefellers, Carnigies, etc from the late 1800's who donated land for the first National Park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park. Great view from the top of Mt Cadillac and on the loop drive along the coast. Kids took a bike ride through the Park that got rained out. Sue and I were waiting at Jordan Pond for them to have tea and scones but that was cancelled in favor of dinner Wednesday evening at the Pond.

Eating in Maine is a treat for seafood lovers, Maine Lobsta, clams (both fried and steamed steamers, delicious scallops, and a variety of stews, chowders (chowdas)and lobster rolls and salads. Add ice cream stands on every corner and smores sitting around a campfire each night and its Diet time!!

Laurie, Roger and Payton left Wednesday AM to spend a day sightseeing Boston before flying back to Chicago. Jami, Dan, and Emily stayed with us and we drove down to Freeport to LL Bean for a little shopping Wednesday evening before catching a very early flight for Honolulu Thursday.
