Tucson and Points East

Since leaving Pomona last Thursday we have said goodbye to Sue's sister Pat and her daughter Stacie and her family. The following day we drove to Tucson to attended a Freightliner Owner's Club rally here in Tucson. The desert has many faces and the Tucson area is covered with cacti of various types. Last year the desert received several inches of rain and was in full bloom but Arizona has had a drought this winter. While we would have liked to see the flowers we have really enjoyed the warm dry winter.

Most of the weekend was spent on tours. Saturday we bussed to nearby Tombstone and spent the day visiting Boot Hill, Big Nose Kate's Saloon, and watching re-enactments of the shoot-out at the OK Corral.

This is just one large group of the many aircraft stored at Davis Montham. The more recent aircraft are kept in flyable condition while the rest are used as a source of parts and then finally cut up for scrap as the type becomes obsolescent.

We are leaving here Friday morning headed east for Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas to see friends and some of Sue's relatives. From there we will be headed north to Illinois to our daughter Laurie's. Tucson is a great place and we will be back to see more of the area.
